Just thought I'd post some pictures of my brother's Land Cruiser 40. The pictures show it all stock, but I have since given Brian the tires/wheels off my Axial to use and the addition of weights in the wheels and star cut foams really made a big difference in the way this truck crawls. In the future we plan on making a steel bumper for the front, and possibly a roll cage (for looks) for the interior.

Here is the driveshaft after the second battery pack.

Figured I might as well post some shots of it with the Axial beadlocks and tires on it. I stripped the green anodizing off with oven cleaner, then painted them mat black. I'm sure the paint won't last long but thats OK since this is a beater, not a shelf queen.

Nice and clean build, but that driveshaft is a bit disappointing :?

Not looked gooed enough at traxxas I think...

Yea I was really disappointed at how easily the drive shaft twisted. Granted we were running the Axial tires on it with weights in the front but regardless I don't think it should have twisted that easily.

I thought I'd be able to swap just the center section of the driveshaft from a Stampede into the truck (like you can with the Axial) but unfortunately the yokes are different. Since I didn't have full Stampede shafts my only choice was to use the center sections from a Stampede shaft and ends from an Axial driveshaft. Its back up and running but only time will tell how long those Axial ends hold up.

Oh man, that driveshaft does not look very good...:(

ouch, I've not had that problem even after hours and hours of running with mine.

Any weight in the tires yet?

I twisted one and exploded a yoke on another before I even weighted mine.

I then ran an axial shaft setup in the rear for 12 packs without an issue

did this happen with the stock "silver can" motor?

did this happen with the stock "silver can" motor?

yes and 6 cell battery

now I have the NOVAK Goat brushless to ensure I have enough power :jaw:

On my brother's truck, yes it was the stock silver can and 6 cell pack. I can't imagine how these driveshafts would do with a lathe motor.

While I'm not sure how you figured out how / why to look at the twisted shafts, I'm glad you did. Although I do not want to look at mine. We were doing the old 'go fast forward-go fast backwards' deal.

I didn't have a choice. The shaft twisted so bad that it split in two and was just flopping around under there..
