I'm finishing up on my cc-01 build and was giving it a test drive last night. I set it up stock. Does anyone know some tips on how to get a little more turning radius? Would a longer servo arm work? Thanks everybody

The steering on the CC-01 is notoriously bad. A very popular upgrade is the GPM CC-01 Alloy Steering Assembly Set #CC048 (http://www.fusionhobbies.com/GPM-CC-01-Alloy-Steering-Assembly-Set-p/gpm_cc048.htm)

Yes the GPM steering makes a world of difference.

I am running the GPM knuckles too to get a little more steering angle too, but you could shave the stock ones too if you see the driveshaft hitting them at full steering lock.

What does this upgrade do? I was looking at the larger picture and i wasn't sure what everything was for. Does anyone have a link to a picture of some directions or a how-to guide that shows where everything goes.

It replaces the plastic drag link that run through the chassis. There are 2 main areas of slop, the plastic drag link is plastic to plastic and can wear with use, and the 5mm ball ends can wear a bit and also cause slop. The combination of the two is what gives the XC steering a black eye. The GPM upgrade takes the plastic drag link and replaces it with a bearing supported assembly that is much smoother and will not wear out. Replacing the 5mm balls and cups with some RPM or lunsford parts takes out the rest. I made the changs to my pajero and the change in steering strength and accuracy were well worth the $30 or so I spent on it.

I have a second steering kit for my Blazer, I'll snap some pics as I go. The kit does not come with directions, so it's a "figure it out" type deal, but it's not hard to assemble.

1 more thing it replaces... that little metal wire that goes between each side of the steering... that REALLY starts getting sloppy after 15+ years.

Ha - forgot about that - the old "Z-Bend" linkage - defintely an improvement there as well!

Put a write-up together in the tech section - hope it helps!
