i was trying to get better grip when wheeling so i went to work and used some stick on
wheel weights we use audi wheels and put them on the inside of the wheel between the
foam and the wheel.i went home and tested it only on the front wheels and it was great :)
i am now going to do thew same to the rears.the rear of the cr-01 is very light so weight may
help with traction and articulation. i will post pics and the weight of stock and now.

I have wheel weights in my CC01's I love having them in there.... if you plan to compete make sure you dont go over your local chapters weight limit (mine is 12oz placed however you want it throughout the 4 tires)

What did you use for weights on your CC01? Have any pictures of it?

Thanks!:D

You can go to your local hobby shop (if you have any in the Phillipenes) or to an auto parts store and pick up some stick-on lead wieghts:thumb: they come in different sizes too

Yes the stick on ones are the way to go.

it costs roughly $10 to weight a set of 4 wheels to 12 total oz if you get the great planes brand stick on weights from a LHS.

They can be broken off piece by piece of cut with scissors.

Then just stick em evenly around the rim bending them to the curve if needed and when done WRAP TAPE AROUND THEM. It will help hold em in place. Then put the tire and foam on and you are done.

On the arguement to do or not....its up to you. Like others have said, crawlers are a definate, but scalers are open for debate. Some say it takes it out of scale when you add weights. Others argue that it just compensates for having light plastic axles and rims.

So really its up to you. If you do put them on, you will really see a difference in the COG. Personally I do not run weights on my scalers. I'm part of the group that says it takes your rig out of scale.

Weights definitely help the rig to climb better. The key would be putting just the right amount of lead weights for the front then rear.

I would add a few grams at a time, then actually getting my rigs to climb on the terrain. I would continue to add more until I observe that the additional weights just makes it more difficult for the truck to climb. I'd do them same for the rear.

If you do a search on youtube for "Ecoli Campbell", I got a video that demo's how better even a full tuber rig can scale a wall with the correct weights.

i have 13 weights in each wheel front and rear.they work great. the good thing now is the front tires
can grip better and it is much easer to turn with locked front dif.

I've heard that weighted wheels make your prop shafts easier to twist. Makes sense although I haven't put weights on mine yet, I did twist a number of shafts before going with steel ones. Something to consider.

acctually, I've tried weights on all four wheels since my last post and have noticed a definate increase in wear & tear. not just drive shafts but axels too. Heavyer wheel + more traction & add a high tourque motor and something's going to be more likely to give. I still swear by the tamiya steel shafts.
