I picked this up earlier this evening.

It was given to me by the original owner. He estimates that he got it around 1985.

Here are some more pictures.

This front suspension looks like it might give a bit of a rough ride.

It came just like this. No controller. It seems to have all of the original electronics that it was built with.

Does anyone know anything about these? It was free, so i would love to get it restored and ripping around the yard again.

What does everyone think?

These antenna are made from really rigid wire. Was this some sort of anti-roll device?

Look at this rat nest. More importantly look at that old mechanical speed control

Plus all the other parts are pretty readily available.

Love seeing the original sponsor stickers on there.

Im going to clean the body up, but would love to keep it as is.

Next i'll gut it and make room for some new electronics.

I'm pretty sure that i"m going to make this as fast as i can.

I saw a brushless Frog on Youtube. Very fast. Not sure how long the gearbox would hold up, but it would be a lot of fun until then.

Deisgned as a successful competition off road car, the Frog offered most of the hop ups in the kit. It came with a rear differential giving superior handling. The spaceframe chassis gave low weight and high strength. The 2WD racing buggy Frog made a huge splash with its eye-catching design and high performance running.

Nice - bought and built up a Re-re kit. Fun stuff, was suprised how peppy it was with the stock silver can.

Found the front suspension to be ok, but the rear was super stiff. Not sure if it's the same set-up on the older ones, but I replaced the shocks with standard Tamiya 4" oil shocks, 20wt oil and 3 hole pistons. Helped a ton.

The rear "hex" dogbones are somewhat of a weak spot. The re-re kit came with actual metal bones ilo the hex drives - they can handle far more power - highly recommend the upgrade of you plan to bolt more power in.

Fun car overall! Very nice find!

Does anyone know how small of a servo i could use in my rebuild? I'm keeping everything on it original just a new stock 540 and TEU-104BK and whatever servo i can dig up. Next is tear down and cleaning and trans. rebuild and a good old fashioned lube job.

A standard 3003 Futaba servo will work just fine. Here is a link to the manual on tamiyabase.
