Hi everyone - another TC member here!

Had my Hilux just about a month now - still loads I want to do to it - but thought I would start a thread with where its at currently - here seemed a good a place as any! :D

First built up painted in Rover "Sand Glow" (Camel Trophy yellow) using the standard tyres on unmodified Hummer rims with a 28t Ansmann Clash motor and an Mtroniks Viper RV11 ESC - wasnt too sure on the look though and the motor was way to fast...

Then fitted the roll bar and swapped the wheels for Pajero rims with standard size SDI Trail Doctor tyres and replaced the motor with an Integy Matrix 55t - much better!

Then decided it would have a much better approach angle and look loads better without the front bumper so removed that...

Thought that the 55t motor was a little too slow and with the flexibility of the three speed decided to fit a 45t Integy lathe motor. At this point I also removed the Mtroniks ESC as the painfully slow to respond reverse was annoying me and replaced it with a Novak Super Rooster - much better although the lack of a brake is a shame...

Finally plucked up the courage to strip the original wheels back to the black plastic and paint them a better colour. Wanted an off-white colour so went for Ford Ivory White - have ordered some Tamiya black wheel nuts and have since painted the surrounding nuts black to lessen the bling of the white. SDI Trail Doctor XL tyres are now here but have not fitted them yet - but they are huge!

Just this week have been modifying the steering with parallel servos in the front - seems to work well on the bench :)

Still got loads of things to do like detailing the shell some more and I want to lower the body too. Will update this post with anything new :)

Comments welcome!

First time out with the Super Rooster had me thinking I should have got one - still it works as it is for now :)

Could always put it in my Pumpkin with an 8t motor or something! :D

I did indeed...

Ansmann make cheap fixed bell motors - I thought a 28t might be slower than a silver can - and it was only £7 posted ($14) - guess I was wrong!

can you drop the body, or a taller tire? The stock setup leaves to much room between tire and fender IMHO

That's such a natural color for the Hilux. Can't wait to see your additional details. I love the mini crawler-club stickers people put on the tailgate or front fender. Like to know if they make them or buy them. Good luck!

Had a morning out with the Hilux yesterday - a few more touches were added before I went. Its going very well - slight issue with the gearchange after the direct steering mod that needs some investigation but I am loving the extra ground clearance from the XL trail doctors :)
