Hey folks,
I am wondering if anyone has tried the Futaba MC401CR ESC on their crawlers? it said it support forward, brake and reverse. I am not sure if the "brake" is the drag brake we are talking about for crawlers? Is this ESC good for crawlers?
I know Tekin FXR is good but I am living in Hong Kong and this is the only ESC with brake i can find in local stores.

I have never used that ESC. I looked it up and it has an adjustable "Neutral Brake" that is programmable using a PC and Futaba's CIU-2 Interface. Futaba describes "Neutral Brake" as...
Make this setting when you want to use the brakes at the neutral throttle (OFF) position by throttle operation. The larger this value, the greater the braking force.

I would e-mail Futaba with your question. They can provide the info and details you need. :)

Drag brake is a setting that helps keep the motor from turning when you are not on the throttle. In 1:1 terms, with no drag brake, it's like rolling down a hill in neutral in your truck. With drag brake, it's like leaving the truck in 2nd gear. Drag brake is very helpful with rock crawling as it is much more controllable on descents.
Sounds like arco found the magic setting! Never heard it called "neutral brake", but that makes sense as well.
