Hey guys, been a while since I was on here. Kinda missed seeing all the new projects.
I've been busy with personal stuff and just finished school and got back to work.

Recently I have came across a nock off/no name r/c vech. that my brother in law had bought off E-Bay, the real name of the car is unknown under the company that "sold it" however, due to years of collecting and knowing a Tamiya when I see it I have concluded it to be a Tamiya Baja King or Baja Champ. BUT What I'm not aware of, is what is the major (if any) difference between the Champ and the King???? I know it's a TL-01 base chassis with tamiya's Buggy added looks. Now from what i can tell, nothing seems to be different other than "looks" is this just another famous tamiya "pull the wool over my eyes" trick and make me thnk it's "another kit" from tamiya??

Why you ask?

Well.... We stripped the gears in the car, and I believe I can use TL-01 gears. Am I on the right track here folks??

Cheers.

I have heard of some recent Tamiya TL01 copies that can sometimes use same parts, back in the 80s the Grasshopper and Hornet got copied all the time.

The baja king and Champ TL01B are identical i believe with only different bodies, I believe the gears of the TL01B and Tl01 touring are the same. the buggy just had longer arms and shocks..

Hey thanks man, good to know. The buggy is great other wise, even if it's not a true Tamiya, but I swear it came out of the same factory and sold under another name for some low blow ebay r/c car company.

Yes, it is identical - tamiya gears will work fine. Funny, I've run TL sedans and the baja king with brushless and never once stripped a gear. Shredded the carbon prop shaft, but the gears are solid. Think it will end up being an upgrade!
