Tamiya CR-01 Wrangler

This is my very first attempt at doing a video. Sony Bloggie 1080 HD on a tri-pod.

8.5 Novak brushless Tamiya CR-01 Wrangler test drive in the back yard. Wheelies at any speed... on a 1500mah NiCd battery.

Thanks. I hear ya Joe. Just wanted to test my skills and see how the camera works. Plenty of rocks in RI... but, I need to practice my videography first. :o

Same problem I have - you need someone to run the camera :) Static camera shots are tough, though much easier with crawlers than with something high speed. Picture looks great, even comressed via YT.

Great picture and frame rate on that camera, and it's versatile enough to mount on the vehicle. (that is a hint right there ;))
... and yeah, your Wrangler looks like it has some guns with that brushless system. Some nice wheelies and not-so-nice torque twist. It looks like you are taking it pretty easy on the turns there. :p

Nice jeep Jay, I can't comment on the camer [don't know a thing about, and not much more about RC] but I like what I see. It looks like you jeep has plenty of skinny pedal, and that I like!! Very cool:yourock:

Yeah, my fiancee' says I can film her while she drives...
Thanks Damon. I am pleased with the camera so far. It has a couple of things that could be better, but it does what it is designed to do, and it is very beginner friendly.

Thanks Daniel. The Bloggie blows my previous camera out of the water.
The Wrangler has some get-up-and-go for sure... and thats on a Tower Hobbies 1500mah NiCd stick pack that I got for free with a coupon. :D That barking/growling sound is the left rear tire rubbing the fender when I stab the throttle. I had planned on making sway bars for it but, I just never got around to it.
I was taking it easy in this vid but, I have another short video where I got into trouble with over-steer. I use a radio with a dual rate on the steering and it helps keep the truck right-side-up at top speed... when I remember to use it.

Thank You Kevin. I hardly know what I am doing either. ;) Glad you like the Jeep. There is plenty of power on tap for sure but, you have to be careful about when and where you utilize it. The skinny pedal works 2 ways (ON/OFF).

Here is a second short clip of the Wrangler popping a few wheelies in the back yard.

At the end of the vid I forgot to flip the dual-rate switch and it led to a little over-steer.

Went up to Vermont for a few days and spent a few hours crawling on the banks of the Lamoille River, just outside the town of Belvedere. I made a video of some action next to the rapids.

Hi Jay,
That is a great looking vehicle. Is something broken / disconnected in the photo?

Hey there skinny. Thanks.
Yeah, you noticed my little bit of carnage... :p Ripped the rod end off the end of the lower 4-link and spit out the rear drive shaft. I have more video of that happening, but i need to download it to you tube.

After blowing out the rod end and being reduced to front wheel drive, I had to retire, so i took a couple of static shots of the Wreckluse with all the suspension and drivetrain dangling.

Rock crawling in Belvedere, Vermont... July2,2010. Beth sank the FJ in hole full of water created by a whirlpool. Transmitter batteries died and that led to a glitch that launched the truck head first into the whirlpool.

Yeah, it went swimming for sure and it was not water-proof at all. :omg: Nothing blew up though. Got lucky I guess...

Thank you sir. Well, she sank her truck right after I started to film the both of us, but I did get a little footage of her before that. When we got to our spot, she just took off on her own man. She just wants to drive, so I didn't get a whole lot of her driving, but there is some.
Yeah man, Vermont is very nice. Here are some pictures from my trip.

Here's another video from that day. This one is where my rig pretty much self-destructed. Anyways, I did manage to get a couple of neat shots before it got retired back to the trunk of my car. ;)

tut tut, you should have put a parental guidance warning for that last 30 seconds though! :p
Looks like you've had some fun with it and I see the 'fixed' tires now on it.

I went back several pages pages in your thread, and don't get me wrong it was nice to see the Bruiser earning its name. But you had some really nice picture and video back in july. Looks like a nice place and great time.

YEA!!! The tires all are the same now!
Yes, well... the Bruiser was "having it's way" with the Chevy body and got stuck. :o Other than that, I have no comment.

Oh yeah, it's a Bruiser alright, but it can crawl too.

Vermont is one of the prettiest places that I have visited in the America. I grew up in the "Big Bend Area" of the North Florida Panhandle and had never even seen any mountains till a few years ago. I finally saw my first moose this past July...
