This is not technically a Tamiya axled truck at the moment but the body will be on an F-350 soon, this post is really only about the body and look of the truck which is all Tamiya. The Tamiya clod is an Iconic piece and to me still the best Monster in all of RC so i wanted to make a scale rig to honor how it might look as a street truck like I see everyday in Wyoming. I started with a Super clod body, filled the hood with careful styrene and Tamiya light curing putty, also ground off sun roof and filled it same way with careful fill, then filled in those weird lines on sides of fenders. I found an original Clod grille and Tailgate with the Chevy logos. Scollins wonderful F-350 interior kit was trimmed to fit and I decapitated a Wrestler Doll from K-mart for the head. The winch bumper was built using stock clod bumper with bar from front of an XC bumper and a resin winch I found on ebay. Lots of weathering with chalks and heat for some minor dents and rust.

Filled in areas for stock look

Filled fenders too

Sunroof seems odd on pickup anyway

With new Bushwhacker fender flares from Rpphobby ready for Tamiya chassis

Bumper from dechromed clod resin winch and XC bumper piece

on first truck chassis TCS X-Trail I wasn't really happy with this combo it worked great but needs leaf springs and all Tamiya underneath for me to really love it.

Looks great. I really like the look of the bodies when they are weathered and rusty. Good job:thumb:

those "wierd lines" were from back in the 80's when many monster trucks had remote tilt noses to show of the motor and big chromed GMC 671 blower pushing them to 1100 hp. :first:

That crushed beer can in the bed adds to the realism! :)

simply amazing. body work is some of my favorite things about this hobby. that is why i really favor the abs bodies. almost impossible to do bodywork on lexan. whish they would build more hard bodies.

Now you just need to make a pickup body that has a huge pile of beer cans, bottles and cases laying in the bed... and maybe a few in the cup holder... lol

My Green Rubicon has a mini Beer in cupholder, the real irony is the tiny beer cans cost more than real beer;)

I have a Clod body and some TLT axles awaiting a few more parts before I start a build - shame it will never look as awesome as this though! Great job!

Man, I always liked that bumper but never thought it was just a Clod bumper and an XC bumper piece on top. Had me fooled, thought you had made a custom piece. Don't be suprised when it shows up on my Clod bodied truck I'm working on. I've gotta use it.

Sure thing Brandon, I like to do as little custom building as possible because I am kinda lazy so when I can use existing parts I do that first before I spend hours trying to get essentially the same thing with brass or styrene sheets. The Clod bumper is quite strong and easy to find so it makes a good staring point.
