About time I did another quick thread on here so I'll start off with a simple restoration. Anyway My dad found this original Rough Rider for me about a month ago at a yard sale for $10 and it is remarkably good shape despite how it looks, some re-re parts will have this old guy up and running soon... now as I write this I am actually about done with fixing it up but I'll save those pics for later.
$10 not bad for a SRB

You've just earned yourself a hat-full of jealousy and hatred from Tamiya fans worldwide :p
Looks like a great fixup project and, no doubt, you won't disappoint with the finished product. :D

Lol thanks guys, just two year ago if I had found this I would have sold it on ebay because restorations cost so much but now thanks to Tamiya parts are easy to get so i did just that and fixed this puppy up to near new. I changed the body, front arms, shocks, tires and just cleaned and rebuilt the rest and now he's ready to roll for some classic Tamiya fun.
I used Krylon Global Blue and gloss Khaki with satin clearcoat, the repro decals I won on Tamiya101 april photo contest
The whole resto bumped price up to abut $180 with some used futaba Radio gear not bad for now like new Rough Rider ready for 30 more years of play
Ready to go outside and run again

I was able to fit my favorite type of slower 35t motor this one a RC4wd can motor with decals removed, gives scale speed and is easier on drivetrain and battery life than faster motors

That was a quick turn-around. It looks great! Should easily last another 30 years. :p It turned out to be a great bargain too. Very nice!

lol, I find an ocasional Hobby grade RC at yard sales. Found a nice TL01 last summer and several other various hobby brands over the years.
Anyway the Rough Rider got to sit just a couple of days as a new-restored ride before I put him back into service. I snapped these pics myself today and drove while they may not be up to Moondoggies level I think they came out ok for me trying to do doing both drive and snap shots with my Pentax :)

I love the picture from the rear with the double rooster tails coming off the hill and the last action shot of it getting some air! Nice!
I also noticed the Grasshopper. I wish I still had mine from when I was a kid and have been tempted to pick it up again for nostalgia reasons lol.

Looks like you had a fun day, you managed to drive most of your runners and got some great pics to boot! Those dunes look like a great place to run, considering the nearest beach is.. how far away?

Hadn't updated this one in ages, has its new shell from that Tamiyausa Tamiya Themed contest awhile back that never materialized lol! Anyway I had not driven this for awhile so I had it out today and took a few pics as we were having a tropical heat wave of low 40F time to wear shorts and go play with Tamiyas.
