I'm not exactly sure what I'm going to do with these, I bought them from an RCC member a while ago. I almost bought another Hilux body, but someone beat me to it. I'm looking at BigBird's 4Runner ABS bodies or RC4WD's Pathfinder.

I narrowed the axles tonight and they turned out very nice. I made them a little better than my Bruiser's.
I started with the knuckles by trimming the bearing support down to allow an external bearing to be used and the pin drive hole present.

Here's the assembled knuckle with bearing sleeve to hold the stub axle tightly.

I then glued it together for added structural integrity.

I then addressed the knuckle slop by using heat shrink tubing to fill the gaps. Acts like a rubber bushing.

Front axle finished.

Time to start on the rear. These are nice axles, they're fully ball raced.
http://pic90.picturetrail.com/VOL2371/13081080/23424360/390913440.jpg
First, I chopped off the outer bolt holes in order to recess the pin holes. (I didn't realize until I was finished that I didn't need to take that much off. I was for the most part copying my previous method that required I use 5mm spacers.) Oh well, no harm done, I can always use a sleeve to cover it up.

Then, I cut the axle collar to fit. You'll be using the bearing support piece.

Here's the narrowed axle case with the stock axle.

I then hand-marked the point to drill the hole for the pins. I don't recommend using this method, I suggest you use a measuring tool.

Holes were drilled with a drill press.

Other than cutting the rear axle to length and threading it. These are the finished products.

Nice project so far, I've never cared for those old Bruiser axles being different widths but when you fix them they look very scale, nice work!

On the hunt for a Bruiser chassis. Will pay good money, especially if it has shackles and hangars!

Looks great so far, there is almost always a bruiser chassis on ebay fairly cheap. Or the RC4wd bruiser chassis is very nice, I have one of those on a flatbed Hilux project and like it.

Well I guess I left you guys hanging on this. I finished it up and now it's my favorite Toyota.
After mounting the tranny and axles, I had to make a custom front axle shaft since the original stock one is so short.
First, I started by drilling through the pressed metal. Inside is a slot the rides on a pin, allowing the u-joint to travel with suspension compression.

To get it shorter, I trimmed the shaft down and drilled a new hole for the pin.

Made sure it fit correctly and had the correct travel.

I then pressed the retaining sleeve back into the groove on the u-joint.

After that, I got the truck running. I soon found out that the tranny was slipping. Like all my others, the slipper clutch fails. So I ordered a new aluminum one. I wasn't even paying attention, but before I installed the new spur, the tranny would only slip in 1st gear. It turns out that the stock spur was fine, it was a cracked gear in the tranny. Luckily, I was able to source about the only spare gear shaft on the planet. Saved me from buying a whole new transmission.
