I am running a high lift f-350 with a traxxas xl-5 esc and a smc 7.4 8000mah lipo pack. I am looking at replacing the stock tires with some rc4wd 1.9 tires and I am wanting to upgrade motors. I am looking for a motor that will have a little more speed then the stock 540 and the torque to spin the tires. I do alot of sand and gravel hill climbs, along with rock crawling and mudding. Unlike most ppl I dont want to slow the truck down I need some more tire speed for my hill climbing. Thanks for your help!

I don't have much experience going fast with scale trucks and I'm not sure what the 3-speed can safely handle since I've always used the stock motors with it but I would start with a Tamiya Sport Tuned motor or similar, I think they are apx 21t compared to the 27t of a stock 540. but maybe some of you other speed guys can give some input here...

Sport tuned motors have a little more kick...don't know about 21t, but they are a noticable difference in a sedan. I would stay 19t and up, drop a few teeh on the pinion and defintely run a heatsink on the motor - not a lot of air flowing through there. Novak goat systems would be a good choice if you wanted to go brushless.
