Well, I start off by saying Hi. I've been looking around on here for awhile and finally joined! I've been working on my CR-01 a little here and there as time permits. Today I started working on the diffs & axles when I noticed a problem. I seem to have a defective ring gear. It lloks like a bad casting, it has a hole between the teeth and then a smaller hole on the edge of the gear. I called Tamiya and sent them a pic, they are sending me a replacement gear. I'm bummed because I actually had some time to put into this today and this happend.

oww
Metal didn't flow in the mold well enough and QC missed it. But all is well as they're sending a newone, just lost some time is all unfortunatly.

Fortunately thats not to common, I've built about 100 +/- Tamiya kits and only two had minor problems from the factory, a TA02 Mustang had a rear gearcase that wasn't fully formed much like your gear, and a TT01R came with 5 shock parts trees and missing a different part tree which i can't recall. :willy_nilly:

This problem that I had, may explain why I saw someone with broken teeth on their ring & pinion on another site.

I've built alot of Tamiya kits over the last 20 years and this is only the 2nd time I've had a problem. I had a kit that was missing the wheels once!
