The forums are starting to buzz....Bruiser ReRe? SC truck?
http://www.tamiyausa.com/announcement.php
Please, please, please do not let it be that Tamiya is opening their test track to the public or something lame. Countdowns should be reserved for BIG news items!
Thoughts?

Bruiser would be sweet

Highly doubt there would be a bruiser Rere....if the cost was way high back in the day, it would be heart stopping today! Just look at the Avante - my left arm is missing after buying that one. Only way I could see it work is if they took a Hilux and re-worked it with a more scale chassis - maybe even a set of more scale axles that would use better modern materials and engineering.....as much as I love the old trucks, they are 25 year old technology. Call it Bruiser 2012 :)
Only thing I can think of that would be big enough to warrant a countdown.

Agreed. It would be super cool to see a new scale chassis... and a new hard body for that matter.
I hope it's not too enticing... my hobby budget is shot for the year.

I would hope for a CC02 with a new hard body like a current Jeep, FJ cruiser or land Rover shell and the choice of a live axle or IFS depending on truck...not likely I know ;) But the Mountaineer or Bruiser with some modern updates would be next on my list.
I personally really hope its not another SC truck I am so incredibly sick of seeing those things, well except the HPI Mini Trophy desert truck, the Thundertech Racing one and the original Tamiya Scale stadium trucks...but then again if Tamiya built one I would buy it anyway since I am an addict afterall

oh, I got all excited when I saw the countdown had finished...
until I realized that it was not taking into consideration my local timezone. Oh well, I can wait another 9 hours. :)

yeah but today was a good day to schedule some server maintenance. So who knows....

now that I think about it... if this is some promo for a new website design I will be very disappointed. Announcing the launch of a new website in this fashion would be like posting a billboard for the janitor who is going to use a new type of mop.

I hope not as well....it's very tough to live up to the hype of a countdown, it had better be good after 3 weeks of inherently silent hype....

Possible worst time ever for server maintanence, if that is indeed what is going on. Overnight guys....OVERNIGHT!

Well its a very nice clean website and clearly lots of work went into it and it will be a super useful Tamiya tool for us customers but I'm not exactly as exited or jumping with glee like if it had been a cool new product or re release I could go order

I remember when "Big K" had a big countdown on their site....the forums were abuzz.....and it turned out that it was just that they were just opening their miniz track to the public or something. The flaming went far and wide...if you're going to do any kind of countdown in this industry, it had better be for a new product. And a good one at that!
(I also remember when big K actually made some interesting vehicles, but that's another topic)
...oh well, back to the CC 01 Bronco project.

kinda like stayin up all night christmas eve & getting a pink bunny suit.
It does seem easier to use & a better design. but I'd trade it for an FJ hardbody.
I've been working on a defender body & it's really cool but after the Hilux, I really appreciate the detail of the Tamiya bodies.

this is a nice politically correct response! Like you have friends on the inside or something?
haha the site does look good- red white and blue background is a hit

lol yes indeed I have many friends at Tamiyausa but in all seriousness I think everybody read to much into the countdown (myself included) as Tamiya has already been releasing old friends and new awesome products at a stupendous rate to keep us all happy, Heck I can't even keep up buying the kits I want let alone building them all and every month another kit I wanted as a kid comes out and I have try to figure out how to put in in the toy budget ;)
