Just joined the site and I have taken some photos of my once stock Touareg - now chopped up to try and compete with a friends Wheelie King Crawler!

SO FAR: Upgraded steering links and beefed up ball cups (cut away skid plate to accommodate heavy duty ball cups), made a set of rear links and lengthened the wheel base a bit, replace plastic sways with tie rods, relocated rear shocks onto links, cut away tub front and rear to accommodate greater articulation and steering through, fitted ali wheel spacers, 8 shooters with yoko geolanders, stampede front shocks (reversed original mounts and fitted on top of front arches, locked out rear diff and semi locked front, ballraced, Novak Rooster and Integy 55t motor, repositioned speed control to allow a larger batt pack at a later date, cut away front end to increase approach angle and finished off with ali plate (also doubles as a 3 cell batt holder between front arches)!, Topped off with an HPI Landy body (to be mounted properly soon).

I have also had a go at improving the notorious steering by fitting some bearings but it still has the grace of a drunken, half disabled pig!! An old topic but any upgrades available? My local model shop said that a German company made a kit which sorted the slop/weakness out but I have not found it yet.

Any suggestions or comments good or bad would be welcomed - Cheers!!

Just looking at your 2.2 shots makes the rig look cool. I didn't think it would look good until I blew up the photos. Nice!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for taking the time to look and write a response! I'll add a few more pics once the body is mounted and I have it out on the rough stuff.

I never thought 2.2's would look good on a XC chassis. You've done tons of mods that I won't do to mine but it looks really good. How does it handle on the trails?

I havent tried it out since I installed the Rooster and the Traxxas front shocks. I'm just waiting for a Tower pro to turn up and I'll give it a go! I'm running a Hitec 615MG servo at the moment which is pretty good but struggles a bit to pull the wheels back in line. Hoping the TP will do the biz.

Thanks! The photos don't do it justice, I was suprised how well it turned out. I used Custom Colour metalic blue backed with Ice Candy, True Chrome roll bar and gun metalic arches.
My mate has persuaded me to part with it so I'll have to paint up another for myself and hopefully start to add some scale detail to it - any suggestions?

Thanks for the link I'll take a peek. As far as the kit goes I would recommend it 100%. Although there are much more capable chassis out there if you get a kick out of continually trying to come up with improvements after each run then this is for you!
