Lets show off our rigs! I'll start.
PS, apologies to Tamiya, the LC body is so pretty, I didn't want to scratch it, so I use a Bushwacker body for rolling.

tamiya or not ... the flip paint looks sick on that body and fits the CR-01 like a glove!

Just wondering, does the bushwacker have a longer wheelbase than the Tamiya fj-40 body, or have you shortened the wheelbase?

Hi people, I am new here so thought I would post a pic of my CR-01 :)

Its stock apart from a Novak 55, and front and rear diffs locked. It has lights that I built up myself as well.

It does have a longer wb. I have 2 BW bodies. One that's a bit beat up and the one I posted which is my pic car.:D Just by eyeballing, looks like 1/2 inch or so longer. As long as you line up the rear wheel well, the front is longer so it looks right.
PS, igbandy, love that color. Is that an original FJ color or just your choice?

Hi, I am a silly ;).
Its PS-54 Porsche Cobalt green (for the Tamtech Porsche) with a PS-1 Black Roof. I wanted a 70`s colour and figured the green and black would work :). It is now stickered up but I dont have any photo`s of it online in that state.

I own a real 69 FJ40 landcruiser and my wife owns a 73 fj40, so far i have painted this one to look like my 69 cruiser, my cr-01 has a Goat/Crawler Novak, and is just stock other than that, i have been playing with different pinions. next i am building a Bruiser to look like my Wifes 40, it will be Leaf-sprung, the original 3speed tranny and the 55t lathe and the rooster-crawler that started out in my CR-01
have also built a huge rock pile, soon to add bridges and some Moab UT inspired problems to tackle, added tons literally since these photos
even Larry calls him Larry....

I used to have a 69 Fj40 I restored back to stock original and it was fun but after a few years of cheating on my Mopar family I went back to my first love Jeep. I still wanted an FJ around so the new Tamiya fit the bill, rusted it up where my real one had it (before I restored the body) but changed the color to the Blue where my real one was tan. Added RC4wd mud slingers, Novak Goat, homemade bumper from a Savage X, maybe do some more to it later but I just enjoy driving it all over for its scale type looks.

That is one good looking FJ. Love the rust. I might have to play with that idea!

Thanks, I forgot to mention also wet sanded (as suggested by a friend) the body with 400 grit to make it flat without the usual lexan gloss, the rust is on inside using various shades of brown.

Looks great Seth, but you know that I like all your models :thumb: Some guys I know have just painted the body on the outside to get the flat finish. You have to tell us a bit more of your rusting method.
Usually on a hard shell I use several kinds of brown paint, and put thinner to that colors. And then paint it. But I don't dare to use thinner on a lexan body...

Ha the Tamiyaclub guys are all showing up on here:D I would usually have painted this on outside if it was on one of my XCs but this thing gets rock rash so it had to be inside. I used Testors model master acrylic rust. Be sure sand on inside of body where it attaches to give it bite and don't use to big of areas because it isn't for polycarb really and could flake off. I then just played around with little bits of other tans and reds mixed into give it a rust like feel. I used a Q-tip and small brush and kinda just splotched it on leaving areas for the blue paint to show through, kinda just have to try it on scrap lexan first. I also used some thin washes of black around hinges and other details using Parma Faskolor black diluted with water. Then I just painted on the inside as usual with the light blue, then the white using Tamiya PS sprays and finally undercoated with black. Then remove the protective film and carefully sand the whole exterior being careful not to sand windows. Fine steel wool helps with detailed bumpy areas. There are probably other ways to rust polycarb but I'm lazy and wanted to use just what I could find in my shop.

Not a bad looking cruiser, you should paint the line on the rear side windows, the year this body was based off of has a flip out vent window on the rear of the side windows on the hard top.

I should do the window bar but I reckon the body will be in pretty rough shape by time I get around to it. Will do it to the next body though:D

nice! i missed the first part of your comment about the year you used to own!!! i actually have a 69 and 1/2, my truck was produced in sept 69, its titled a 70, but when i was a sage of Crusier Lore in college i actually figured out one difference between 69 and 70 fj40, but i can't recall it at the moment, i have been rebuilding my truck for four years, aqualu alum body, (w/o firewall), had a custom frame made from boxed steel from Matkins in Billings, which was cool because its 1 inch taller than stock frame, old man emu suspension, 383 stroker chevey, lots of little details, still have the chrome hood ornament and kick vents, painted those details on my CR-o1, yeah also i found replacement bodies for 35 bucks, i'll try to get a good pic of both trucks, scale and full size! yeah and The more I look at the rust job you did, i wanna try that on my next body, my wifes FJ is a beater and very rusty! very cool job!!!!

I really like the basic look of African trucks with the small narrow truck tires on plain steel wheels so i used 23575R15 BFG All terrains.
