My name is Franky from Staten Island,NY. Been out of the hobby for a couple years switching to building 1/24, 25, 35, 48, and 350th scale models. After seeing the release of the CR-01 FJ I really wanted one. so with X-mas coming I thought it would be a great gift. After doing some research I can across some scale looking CC-01's and sparked an interest. I had always liked the CC-01 but never pulled the trigger on one. After seeing some amazing scale looking CC's I had to get one. So I ordered the Pajero (XC) as a gift for myself and it'll be here Monday. :D

I'm thinking of doing a hard plastic body with all the scale details for the shelf, and a lexan for bashing. So wheelbase comes into play.

Now for the questions,
1- What are you using as far as links and propshaft when extending the wheelbase?

2- What engine type are you running? My kit comes with the tamiya ESC, I have a new Integy 35T and thought I would use it for now with a 16T pinion.
Not looking for a fast ride, but more along the lines of good torque with alittle speed. Do you think I'm heading in the right direction?

Thanks for any info provided. I've seen some awsome looking rigs on this forum, keep up the good work. :thumb:

Howdy Franky, welcome and I'm sure you'll enjoy the CC-01 I've had a few dozen of these over the years and a few more to follow lol!

The CC-01 can be built in two stock lengths apx 9 5/8 and 10 5/8" wheelbase using the stock links but changing where they are mounted. Using the longer wheelbase positition requires a longer driveshaft like that used on the now discontinued Touareg or making a longer driveshaft using standard 5mm dirveshafts like those used by many crawlers including the CR01. Custom 4 link suspensions vary widely with how they are done, I would suggest looking at the ones on here and on other rock crawler forums to get some ideas. I always build a truck up stock first and then drive it to decide if more is needed.

countless bodies can be fitted to the XC chassis some of them which fit the stock wheelbase including the Tamiya Brat shell which comes to mind quickly. I generally find the body I want and then adapt the chassis and wheelbase to fit that.

the 35t motor is a good choice and will provide quite a lot of speed still, the run time will be much better than the kit supplied 540 as well. I generally use 35-55t lathe motors in nearly everything. The stock speed control will work fine with the motor but if you start to crawl you'll find it has no brakes to keep it from rolling downhill or off a rock pile when not on the throttle so a good crawling esc like the Novak rooster crawler is often a good future upgrade.

Thanks for the response Wyoming. I'm going to build the pajero as is, play around the house with it until I find the body I'm looking for. Where do you find the hard plastic bodies from? I would like to do either a Land Rover defender or the LR3. I've seen a Defender on EBAY going for $78 plus shipping from China, is that the going rate for these bodies?
