I am trying to get everything in order so that when my new Hilux arrives I can put Paint it and put her togeather while the paint dries.
So my question is, What should I get in the line of bearings and other mods or fixes to do while I build it? And is there any thing I should know? Ie. Shimming that needs sorting out and stuff like that.

You'll definitely want ball bearings as I've learned from past experience. rpphobby.com has the bearing kit. RPP is reliable and fast. I can't think of any mods to do if you're building the kit stock. You should build it stock anyways and mod things later.

I would agree with BlazerBogger just get you some bearings and build it by the book, then modify it later to suit your needs. The best thing about building a kit is you know how it went together and this makes working or modifying them later so much easier:thumb:

the kit I ordered already has the bearings, But I ordered a second set off of E-Bay. But thanks for the info. I am looking forward to doing this one. Sort of...... I have built 5 cars since Christmas, and I am working on the 6th (the concept Pajero) and the 7th is on the way.

Thats a great start, careful they can be addicting...I could not easily count how many I've built over the 22 years I've been playing with them but its a lot since i currently have about 35-40 Tamiya vehicles and I buy and sell them all the time to make the most of my tiny houses storage space (sometimes I have a kit from another manufacturer but only if it comes as a kit)...I admit I have a serious problem and I like to see others get the this habbit too :D

My ex-wife made me sell all of my RCs after we were married. Now I can see I made the wrong choice. I should have kept the cars and sold her. At the time I had 25 electrics and 7 or 8 gas. Thank God for my girlfriend. She likes my hobby, she is even into it now. My collection is building back up.
So wait who else makes kits like tamiyas?
