So I am on page 12 of the over all build and I am stopping here since i am concerned about two things. One having to do with the other.
I have a old integy 55t on it right now (I wanted to make sure that the gear box was fine.) But I noticed it will go massively slow in 1st and from what I can tell just above walking pace in third. I was thinking of puting in the stock 540 or using my 27t axial motor But my main concern is battery life at this point. I am sure this thing will craw any thing the tires can get over no matter the motor, But I want the packs to last at least 45min to a hour. (3300mha nimh)
SO what do you guys use on your 3speeds, and what are your battery life times like?

I use the stock motor on my Hilux because I like the higher speed it can produce. I usually run 1500mah packs and will get about 10-20 minutes out of it depending on how I drive. If I drive in first and second, I will get about 15-20 minutes out of it, but drifting in third will only give me about 10. On the other hand, when I use my 4000mah pack(tops out at about 3750 now), I will get about 30-45 minutes. This is also depending on how I drive. So it's all about what you prefer. I pretty sure the 55 turn motor will give you the run time you're looking for. I run my 4000mah pack in my TLT crawler with a 35t motor and will get over an hour and a half out of it.

I run a 35t Integy in my Tundra and the stock 540 in my MFU equipped F-350
I run Sanyo 1500 or 1900 Nicds (made in Japan) which are very high quality and reliable but run times will max out about 25 minutes averaging 15minutes.
So for long run times just buy the highest capacity battery, but I'll say don't buy the cheapest one because i've had terrible luck buying the cheap High cap batteries.
I use a Novak Ionic charger and an MRC Super brain 977 and charge on low amps to give long pack lifes

You will probably have the best luck buying a custom made pack. cheapbatterypacks.com has always been my favorite.

The worst batteries I've had were bright green Venom 3000mah Nimh, 3 of the 4 failed in a week and one of them never worked lol! kinda funny the last one worked great for a year before it died. I've also had a few 4200s from SMC that were real junk lasting only about ten runs before they wouldn't take a charge.

OK SO I think I like it That is of course with the much bigger 2.2 crawler tires on it.. I think I am going to get some aluminum parts to replace the steel and lighten it up a bit. But First thing is a good HT servo. And then waterproof the RX. So we will see. I am also thinking of trading it for a Summit.
