The general consensus in the hobby industry is that Tamiya parts are hard to find or constantly discontinued. Unfortunately for the consumer, this isn't always the case. Many distributors have a tendency to carry only the most popular kits or items and constantly inform consumers and retailers that the parts or hop-ups have been discontinued. We have had many complaints from consumers that retailers are unwilling to carry or order Tamiya parts also.
Here are some facts to help us aid everyone in obtaining Tamiya parts and hop-ups:
1. Retailers can order any part or hop-up directly from the Tamiya America's sales department. Tamiya America has a system known as TADA (Tamiya America Dealer Access) that allows hobby stores, that have created a free account, to browse our inventory and order directly. The system even goes as far as notifying retail stores what suppliers have picked up the latest kits or parts. Tamiya America supports ONLY brick & mortar stores with an actual store front for consumers to walk in.
2. A part is NOT discontinued unless it says so on the Tamiya America's website or is confirmed with our Customer Service department.
3. Web sales on the Tamiya USA website are available for parts and hop-ups in the event that the consumer cannot obtain parts through their normal channels.
4. If your local store is unable to get parts, please encourage them to sign up on (TADA) with the Tamiya America sales department.
Tamiya America encourages hobbyists to support local hobby stores (LHS). We strive to improve & promote the general hobby industry and thank everyone for their support of Tamiya America, Inc.
