This is my Wreckluse with High-Lift axles I completed in December. It has RPP Python beadlocks and Pro-Line Flat Iron tires wit Junfac wheel wideners. I'm also running an RC4WD rear straight axle kit and RCP straight axle adapters.
http://www.tamiyacrawlers.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=82&pictureid=487
To help the truck turn I used RCP TLT max clearance knuckles and cut 1/16th off of the cup of the stock wheel axles. It has custom made upper 4-link mounts, custom servo mounts, and custom 4- link.

To power this truck I used a Tekin FXR speed control, Trinity custom wound 19 turn double 550 size motor, and a 9 cell 2/3 A Elite 1600 mah battery from Cheap Battery Packs. com.

Looks great, I think a few places sell some scale seats for these types of crawlers, might be of interest

That's a nice looking Wreckluse. How did you do the 4-link?
Arcocustom
04-15-2009, 12:11 AM
I made a bolt on bracket for the upper mount out of 1in.X1in. alum. angle so I could triangulate the upper mounts over the center of the housing. The links and shocks mount to TLT suspension stays, with the lower stay bolting to the housing using existing holes. The links are custom made of hollow 3mm carbon tube, 4/40 threaded rod, and Traxxas rod ends.:)

Cool Jeep. Always wanted a tuber jeep ever since it first came out -- one day, maybe. FXR is a pretty nice ESC too.
Arcocustom
05-09-2009, 03:04 AM
Yeah, thanks. Took it out a cople days ago. It runs like a top and the suspension works great! This truck has a tranny dig on it from DNA and allows the truck to turn in a 1ft. radius. I'll swear by Tekin's electronics. The best brushed speedo's ever made. I have a 411, G-10, FXR and an FXR PRO. Never had a problem.
Siggy
05-09-2009, 03:25 AM
100% agree with FXR's. DNA Dig pretty cool too and many of their products.
Have you tried HH Cobalt 7T Puller on a 3S 30C, it makes for the most smiles, for sure.
Arcocustom
05-09-2009, 03:51 AM
No. Was gonna use that motor on the Wreckluse, but the motor can is too long. Then I wanted to use one on my 3-speed semi trans high lift, no dice, too long. Maybe one day I'll get a rig with enough room. The Motor that's in there is a 550 Monster Maxx Trinity motor with a custom wound 19 turn armature also from Trinity. The truck does burnouts on 9 cells. I do want to try the HH motor though.:tinfoil3:

I got em into my XXX-Traction Tuber, on an FXR, 3S 30C, and Rover Tires, and its got awesome torque and top end.
I would not put them with a dig un less its HD/Chromoly internals. Besides, you will most likely have to take out the dig and move the transmission a bit forward or back to fit the Puller. Lot's of work, indeed my friend. :) I had to do some chopping of my Pajero to get the puller in. But its all worth it.
Arcocustom

Yeah, I hear yah. The skidplate is delrin and came pre-drilled for an AX-10 trans. and I did't want to mod it so I went with the Trinity motor. I have an Astro Flight 10 turn samarium cobalt pullmaster 05 motor in my TLT, so I know about the world of puller motors. And as for Dakillswitch, I know firsthand how hard it is to set-up those High Lift axles for a 4-link. Good job!

That's cool. Now you have the ability to lock and unlock the diffs, albeit manually. Probably gained strength in the axle C area as well. And now it's possible to run 4WS, unless you are competing in an event where it isn't allowed of course.:Tamiya1::Tamiya1::Tamiya1:

Thanks Siggy. The dig works great. The way it's mounted, there isn't much room for anything bigger than a 540 length motor though.
Posted more pics hoping to convince you to put Tamiya axles under your rigs. You know RC4WD makes portals for TLT axles which also work on High-Lift axles. Just a thought...
Thanks also to Dakillswitch and Moondogie for their compliments. I really appreciate it. Still working on hooking up the winch the way I want it and I need to get a pair of seats and a scale dash/ steering wheel for it.

Can't get those 7T pullers unless we drill more holes into the skid plate :( Thinking -- those Mountaineer/Bruiser Motors. They do have a lots of torque, as well. Happy with the dual-spring shocks?
I do have some highlift axles but need to get some 4-link/shock mounts.
If I can only grab some nice TLT's, that would be ok, as well.
Have you tried the interiors + driver of a Bruiser Hilux? It fits nicely with a little shaving on the bench, even with the ax10 transmission underneath :)

The 110mm scale shocks work great. :link:http://www.rcrockcrawling.com/product_info.php?cPath=60&products_id=762
I used the delrin sliders, with soft springs on the top and hard on the bottom of each shock, to make the dampening more progressive,:link:http://www.rcrockcrawling.com/product_info.php?cPath=60&products_id=781

The Land Cruiser and it's pilot did very well today. :thumb: I struggled at times, but was able to do some things the CR-01 could not. The tires were the difference I do believe. If the Land Cruiser had stickier tires, it would have been about equal. The Wreckluse needs a little fine tuning and probably a higher wind motor, but it did pretty good. I think I need to lower the CG a little, move some weight forward, and maybe add some lead weight on the front axle.

teebeehex, I can totally relate to what you are saying. I did a little searching on the net and the story there is the same as here in the Southeastern U.S., people upstream vs people downstream. I have a freind who is a commodities broker, and he said this was our future. He was right.
It's necessary for survival, only about 1% of the water on earth is suitable for consumption and people in the United States use about 1,000 times more water each day than gasoline. "Fresh water is certainly a more valuable commodity than crude oil, but crude oil doesn't fall out of the sky either," said Jim Wyckoff, a commodities analyst at TradingEducation.com.
"Clean, fresh water is not only the most vital commodity -- it is also the most undervalued," said Bernard Savaiko, an economist at the New York Board of Trade.
Water is "the first and last great commodity," said Phil Flynn, a senior analyst at Alaron Trading in Chicago.
"people theorize that the next great competition over supplies will be for fresh water," said Flynn, adding that the supply of drinkable water is becoming tighter and tighter
I certainly hope you guys get releif soon.

Time for an **UPDATE**
Went on vacation for a few days up near Stowe, Vermont. Beth and I took a couple of rigs with us to play with while we were there.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4080/4759111002_f730c233b6_z.jpg
The Wreckluse was performing well when suddenly I noticed I had some carnage to my suspension and drivetrain.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4082/4758473009_6c2feb39d3_b.jpg
One of the lower 4-link rod ends was ripped out and that allowed the driveshaft to fall out. Didn't look all that bad, but I didn't have any tools with me so I had to retire for the day. My truck broke two minutes after Beth sank the Blue FJ in a whirlpool when her transmitter batteries died. :yikes: So, after our little bashing session, I had to let the FJ dry out and my Wreckluse is severely wounded and in need of serious repairs. Oh well. So basically, we had some extra time to do some sight-seeing. :D

Alright, I took the Wreckluse home and gave it a once-over to survey the damage. The lower 4-links are made from 4-40 threaded rod, which I think is too small, so I decided to increase that to 3mm and and change the rod ends to Tamiya pieces.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4096/4777930184_589cdc8ea8_b.jpg
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4080/4777930092_3abb7409bc_b.jpg
I used some 3/16 K&S aluminum tubing and threaded them using a tap to accept a 3mm insert to accept the Tamiya rod ends and fabbed up my new lower 4-links.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4078/4777297459_6aa73e67d6_b.jpg
After the new links were installed I tested the truck out, it seems there is some more damage in the drive train somewhere, so I need to check into that and find out what is wrong in that area.
More to come...

Well, after pulling out the transmission, driveshafts and all...
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4101/4777930642_b5a77a086d.jpg
I found out what was wrong with the drive-line...
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4119/4777943540_826a02d4cb_b.jpg
I had a crack in the rear driveshaft yoke on the tail-shaft of the transmission. This allowed the yoke to "spread' and then spin on the tail-shaft. The cracked yoke spinning almost destroyed the tail-shaft itself and it probably would have if I did not quit running it and check it for a problem.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4134/4777296969_3d399526f2.jpg
That groove in the end of the tail-shaft is not supposed to be there. That is where the set-screws in the yoke were spinning. The hole is not supposed to be there either... that is my fix. I driiled the hole so I could use a longer pin type screw to secure the driveshaft on the tail-shaft. Well, now I have the complete trans out of the truck and I have fixed the rear tail-shaft, I went over the rest of the trans and found a loose set-screw on the front driveshaft extension. I also drilled a hole in the driveshaft extension that I have mounted on the front out-put of the transmission, so I could use a pin type of screw to secure the front driveshaft as well.
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4134/4777931300_56756167a2_b.jpg
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4100/4777931210_09654c8080_b.jpg
http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4079/4777297371_73a1d3ff32.jpg
So, both of the the transmission out-put shafts have been drilled for through pins and it is all re-assembled, I installed some steel yokes in the driveshafts and prepared to re-install the trans.

Here are some photos of the 4-link mounts and modifications that I made to the Tamiya High-Lift axles. The upper 4-link mounts are made from aluminum angle. The steering servo mount is part of the upper 4-link mount and is made from the same aluminum angle. Out front I have a set of TLT-1 max steer knuckles from RCP Crawlers. The stock High-Lift steering rods are sleeved with 3.5 carbon tube. The rear axle has the axle "C's" removed and a set of TLT-1 rear steer eliminators from RCP Crawlers installed along with a stainless steel straight axle for the High-Lift from RC4WD. The link/shock mounts are from a TLT-1. The axle cases have the bottom "lip" removed and they have been sanded smooth. The diff covers have also been trimmed to prevent anything from hanging-up on the trail.

Thank you That guy. I try my best. Still have a few things I would like to finish (interior) and or change (tires), but I am having fun with how it sits, so maybe I'll get around to some more mods this winter.
Thanks for taking a look.

In this picture you can see the custom 3mm carbon fiber battery tray and custom made 1500mah 2/3A 9 cell 10.8v Nimh battery pack. To secure the battery to the tray I use a single wrap of fiberglass re-inforced packaging tape. Also you can see the custom interior made of styrene, refrigerator magnets, (4) 2mm bolts, (4) nuts, (4) washers, and (4) nuts.

This jeep has needed a fairlead for almost 2 years now, so I finally broke down and bought a couple of Delrin ones to bolt to the stinger on the Wreckluse.

The winch rope does have a slot to pass through on the Wreckluse, but it is steel and could cause the line to fray and or get cut, which has kept me from ever really using the winch on this rig.

I traced the outline of the fairlead onto a piece of masking tape making a pattern for the two holes that need to be drilled in the chassis. I then applied my pattern to the winch plate on the stinger.

With the last sharp drill bit I had I drilled the two holes into the steel winch plate.

The fairleads included Stainless metric 3mm hardware for the installation. I installed a Delrin fairlead on the back of the winch plate as well as the front.

FAIRLEAD IS INSTALLED!

Now my winch rope has some Delrin to rub against instead of steel. :thumb:

Thanks brunion.
Finally went and upgraded the tires on the Wreckluse and installed a new set of 2.2 Pro-Line Interco Super Swamper TSL's. The pictures take you through that process. From inserting the wheel into the tire, to tucking the foams inside the bead, and lining up the front bead-lock ring... then installing the backside bead-lock ring minus a screw to allow the tire to "vent" and not pop the tire off the bead during the installation.

While I had the wheels off the Wreckluse, I snapped a few pics of the suspension to show how I mounted the High-Lift axles to the chassis.

AWESOME! Got to love the 2.2. Swamper and RC4WD Pythons! The scale Spyderlock are indeed the perfect choice for the scale Poison Spyder.
*You can also clock the beadlock ring to align the front and inner star:thumb:
