I keep breaking my driveshafts. Or at least the tiny e-clips keep coming off, and then the drive shaft "ujoint" falls apart. This last time it happened I can't seem to find all of the pieces so that I can reassemble it. I need a replacement(s).

Is there a reasonably priced replacment available, possibly from a company other than Tamiya? (sorry Tamiya)

Traxxas stampede half shafts will work. You will need one Part #1951 Traxxas Long Truck Half Shafts(2) and two Part #4628X Traxxas Drive Yokes Steel (2). Junfac makes CV drive shafts for high-lift vehicles also.

The High_lift axles don't usually give trouble for a long time but sharp rocks can rip those pins out and cause failure. I like to use Axial Scorpion Driveshafts because they have blue steel yokes and can be found on ebay for as low $15 bucks a set of front and rear (if you buy them from axial they cost a lot more) but people take apart scorpions and sell them piece by piece, The plastic axles can also be cut to fit any length easily with a saw.

If you want to have super strong shafts check the RC4wd punisher shafts they are solid stainless steel and super heavy but cost about $40 a set

Tamiya makes CVD style driveshafts for the CR01, hopefully they step up and make them for other models in their line up.

MIP has CVD splined hardened drive shafts with 5mm bore for the AX-10 that should work.

My vote is the Junfac shafts...... Bought em for the highlift. Very nice workmanship. Will be getting a second set for my tundra i like them so much.

They also work very well!

Thanks for all of the replies. I guess I'll try to pick up some shafts off of ebay.
I've also just bought a Traxxas Slash that will hopefully be taking care of my need for high speeds and jumps. That should help preserve my poor Hilux.

Wrap some electrical tape around the shaft pins. I have a friend that did that and he said it worked. He also sent me his old Juggernaut drive shafts to take the e-clips from when my shafts fell apart. Just ask around, someone may have an old set they can part with.

You can put heatshrink over the pins and clips.

Heat shrink does have a lot of interesting uses. If I have a failure on the metal drive shafts, I would just replace them with plastic drive shafts.

My avatar shows what happened to Wyo's first highlift drive shaft. It had a very hard life though. :)

Yeah, the stock shafts aren't breaking, they fall apart. The Stampede drive shafts are scale looking, work well, and are plenty sturdy enough for crawling.

I'm only one piece away from being able to reassembly my drive shaft.
If I ever find it I'll go with the heat shrink tubing idea.
