I'm at the point in my CR-01 build where i need to decide on the electronics. I've read a bunch about whats out there but i'm still undecided. If anyone and everyone would like to recommend anything i'm open to suggestions. Servos and ESC's. Let me hear some ideas on radios and receivers too! Thanks

I kinda like the way the brushless novak goat crawler system handled when I drove one of wyo's CR-01s... From what I can tell it's a really good motor/esc combo, but it is also expensive. :)

THats if you have 250 to spend, the roster crawler is great for it as well

It's actually $200 for the Goat:

Yes, the Novak rooster crawler is also really good and a much cheaper option for brushed motors.:)
You can get the rooster crawler with motor combo for a reasonable price:
With 55 Turn Motor: http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Novak-Rooster-ESC-Crawler-Edition-with-55t-Motor-1842-p-16655.html

Thanks. Any receiver recommendations? Is micro the way to go?
What's a good cheap ESC to use with the stock motor?

I have a Goat system, and I love mine. If you can afford it I say get it. Tons of torque and plenty of wheel speed, great all around system.
I went to Scale4x4's first GA scale comp with a TLT axled rig with the Goat and a TXT trans, the power and speed were unbelievable. I wish I had it on video, there was this one spot I couldn't get up, so I backed up, stopped and nailed it, from a standstill the truck lept UP in the air and flew forward almost a foot and landed on the obstacle I was trying to crawl up! It was hilarious, I about died laughing, too, it almost nailed Jason from RC Driver trying to take a pic!
The truck was deemed Jack Rabbit after, lol

I run the Novak rooster Crawler combo with the 55t motor and its GREAT!! i didn't have the cash for the brushless. I would recommend the 45t combo for a bit more speed.
if ur rolling stock :)
So if cash is a limit go novak brushed and if not go for the brushless goat :)

For my CR01 though I got a Torque Master from Holmes Hobbies in a 35T. I figure with the planetary trans I can run a lower turn motor and still have plenty of grunt, especially with the hand wound Torque Master.

Try looking at the Tekin FX-R. You can run upto 11.1v lipo with em. After a few little hick ups with them I have found them to be very good.
I use a integy 55t lathe motor.

I use the rooster combo with a 2.4ghz spektrum radio and hitec servo. serves my cr-01 really well.
