Hi. First off, that is a nice body. It fits the TLT-1 chassis quite well. The motor mount on that chassis makes it hard to adjust the backlash beetween the pinion and the spur gear. Almost impossible to see. The noise it's making is the gearmesh is too tight. You should be able to fit a peice of paper between the 2 gears by rotating the spur gear and feeding it in. If the paper won't fit, it's too tight. There should be a small amount of play between the gears. If it's too tight the gear teeth bottom out and "call" one another. I beleive that is the sound you hear. Try the paper trick. Maybe it is correct. If it is, then the "calling" sound is coming from the ring and pinions. They need to have a certain amount of play as well. Just trying to help a fellow Rock Buster owner tame a noisey drivetrain.:thumb:

Sorry but I made a mistake on the thread title... this is a TLT car, not a TXT as stated

Regading the noise... i have plenty of play between pinnion and spur... that was my 1st thought and my 1st correction action. I never had a stock TLT so I don't know if they central transmission is noisy or not.

Regarding the outdoors shots or movies... I won't be making them because I'm selling this car and I don't want it scratched... the new owner can do it without my help :D

The reason for selling this car is very simple... I have 10 rc cars at home, and 2 of them are 1:5 scale and my wife is always complaining about the space they use at home. So I had an arrangement... whenever I want to buy a new car, one of the "older" ones must go... and I just bought a Bruiser to rebuild and it's still hidden in the trunk of my car

They aren't noisey at all. What pinion gear are you using on your engine? Who makes it?

Don't know the manufacturer, but it's a 15T pinnion, 48 pitch

That could be the problem. Tamiya gears are 48 metric pitch. Also when pinion gears have that few teeth they start to have problems meshing. The smallest gear Tamiya makes in 48 metric pitch is a 16T #50354. If you want to go lower you should change the spur gear. Hope this helps.

Thank you for the explanation, but I'm not going to do nothing about this matter because this truck is on sale... I might put back on the orginal pinnion so the new owner doesn't get scared with the noise :)

You can always order a steel pinion from Robinson Racing. They sell the metric gears and will last 20 times longer than the crappy aluminum ones Tamiya sells.
