Where to start

So i recently acquired a Twin Detonator, where do i start with converting this to a "full" crawler, i do realise that it is not the most ideal chassis for crawling, but i do however believe that with the dual motor setup that it could be quite a capable device.

I have seen pictures of "the stick" conversion and it does seem to be quite a simple conversion, however i would like to keep the chassis looking like a traditional crawler rather than two gearboxes and a piece of alluminium tubing between them.

what sort of design should i look at for the plates that would link the two gear boxes, and what sort of materials would i need to do this for best effect?

I will appreciate any and all help that anyone is willing to offer

There is really a lot of potential in this chassis, if this helps show one possibility I built one into a scale 1.9 Crawler awhile back using TL01 arms and a homemade chassis to fit the Tamiya brat body just to help get the ideas flowing.

He was inspired to build that when he saw my custom built chassis with Blackfoot Xtreme gear box and parts. Of course mine was only rear wheel drive. Even then I crawled with it a bit since the diff was locked. I have some pretty nasty videos of it rolling on rocks. I should post them some time. :)

Aaaaaaaaaaargh i wanted to use a Brat plastic shell too....suppose it will not be that uncommon.....thanks for the idea, any chance of some closer pics? really want to get this thing going

I unfortunately don't have that truck anymore and those were the only pics I could find of it. Built it last year and sold it buy something else. I used 3/4" wide aluminum L channel from hardware store for the chassis, easy to make any wheelbase desired.
