Well I ordered my 2nd FJ body. I'm trying to decide between pactra metalic green which I like. Or doing a scale truck like I wish my '72 looked like. problem is I can't find a polycarb in "desert tan". So Tamiya offers the following two tan colored paints:

Anyone had good or bad experiences using either of these types of paint on lexan?

How bout good ol Krylon. I know a lot of people have used it. How does it hold up?

Thanks a lot.

I'll check it out. I'm leaning towards the green now. But tomorrow... Thanks

Check this Parma faskolor Beige lexan paint out, you will need to use a brush or airbrush but it can be mixed with other Parma colors to get just the shade you want, problem is its hard to find in stock.

You should stick with paints made for Lexan.:)

PAR40008
Parma's FASKOLOR 2 oz Paint is a Water-Based, Non-Toxic Hobby Paint that is Specially Formulated for Clear Lexan Surfaces.
It Actually Becomes Part of the Body When Brushed or Sprayed On!

I should have clarified that I was wanting to stick with spray cans. I'm leaning toward metalic green though. I did my first with metalic blue & pearl white top and liked it. Maybe If I'm nice between now and Xmas, I'll find an airbrush in my stocking. thanks for the tips.

Spraybombs are cool. It's all I ever use. Just stick to the poly carbonate/Lexan sprays. Anything else just flakes off.:)

I'll have to say on one hand I like the options that an airbrush adds but having a hard time justify the cost not to mention the convienience of cans. But I am going to stick with the polycarb, I've pretty much narrowed in on the metalic green and the local hobby shop is now stocking all the pro-line scale stuff. Oh oh.

Well, I went with Pactra metalic green. I got some Tamiya masking tape too which was much easier to work with than the electrical tape I used on the first one. Highly recomend good masking tape. I really spent some time getting the rain gutters just right. However, in the rear, right around the curves in the roof line, my masking tape came up and I have a little overspray in there. What is the best way to clean this up? I was thinking some sort of polishing tip on my dremel tool and just buffing out that little bit of overspray. Any other suggestions?

I use Denatured Alcohol from the hardware store.

Put a little on a Q-tip and it should wipe right off. You may want to mask off the green part. don't get it real wet with the stuff. Hold the body up to the light to make sure all the green residue and overspray is gone. You can also use fine grit sandpaper and carefully sand off the overspray. I wouldn't use a buffer and polish. that can cause the paint to fisheye and not stick.

I'll try the alcohol. I remember you suggesting that before, I didn't know if it would still work after the paint had cured. I still have a few more coats & I wanted to back the metalic with silver.
