Just getting curious now...

Personally I build my vehicles for fun and personal use. I dont intend to sell them :D Though I may sell off old stuff from 10 years ago, the stuff I am building up now I plan to keep for a while

What about everyone else? Build for personal use? Resale on e-bay, you own a hobby shop?? You work for Tamiya :D?

What made me think of that is a friend bought the gold brat on the left as a completed project off of e-bay... anyone here build it? :D

I build for the same reason, personal use and I enjoy being busy building, I used to love to build planes. I have only sold a couple, and I regret one of them, my original clod buster..

Actually, even though my builds are not as good as some, Im still getting a kick out of showing them on here.

As far as ebay goes, the other day was the first time I have used it. I may wade back into the waters of ebay someday. I may never bid though, Im too impatient to wait, I want it and I want it now ! :D

Thats my story and Im stickin to it. ;)

All the Brats are cool lookin :)

Yep, I build mine for personal enjoyment too. I run them into the ground and then some. I've sold a couple of non-crawler RC's because I got bored of them(not on eBay). I guess that's why RC crawling is so much fun. There's such a variety of trucks to build, every crawler is different. I like to build more unique trucks, well, they end up unique anyway, because I can't stand tires that protrude from wheel wells. I have several more clod projects in mind, so I've been hard-pressed to sell my beloved Submarine, the project that got me started in RC. I've spent the last three years trying to get this thing together. I estimate the value at about $500(cost me $600 to build, but I'd probably only be able to sell it for $400-$450), so hopefully I would be able to build a couple more trucks.

To me building is more fun that driving them. Don't get me wrong I do not build shelf queens (They all get used) I do not build to sell but to build then drive.

Yes I do work for Tamiya and that makes it more fun for me I work all day and get to see all your great vehicles, the get to go home blow off some of some stress by building.

No I have not built the Brat yet. I have one sitting on my shelf along with a Midnight Pumpkin, Lunchbox, Hotshot and S10 begging to be built.

Mcfig and I keep trying to plan a time to build our hotshots but we tend to work on our crawlers or go R/C'ing instead.

Really a good question, I enjoyed reading you guys responses.

I guess I do it because I have some overwhelming desire to build things ( I work as an artist) and I enjoy the building process most, nearly all of what I have built gets sold or made into something else at some point, sometimes right away before I ever even use it, or sometimes years later on impulse, I'm not taking anything with me at the end so I've never felt the need to keep many material things for long. I like to try and enjoy as many different kits and types of vehicles as possible on my income and time constraints. A precious few kits never will get sold Like my Grasshopper, Lunchbox and maybe a few of my scale builds but usually if the money is right or I need to pay a bill or two I will sell them with no regret and move onto building something else. :thumb:

In my case I build them as some sort of therapy as I work as a consultant and part of my job is getting people fired, and this "building" makes my mind wonder away from real life and unhappy stuff.

After building my cars, I use them for a while and then I sell them (usually losing money) and then I start another building project... and I have several projects in my mind ;)

Hi, my name is Jayson and I have a problem, I am an RC addict.:tinfoil3:

Everything I build is for me.:D I am driven to build stuff. I like to drive them as well, but for me, building and modifying is an addiction. I own 20 RC cars/trucks and 3 boats. I am pure hooked on 4x4's and keep everything, even the junk. Tamiya is my favorite manufacturer and I have over ten runners that I have built from Tamiya kits since 2003.

I build cause its something to tinker with :) Still own all my trucks (first few are in parts in boxes). But I see the pic of a new RC and then a Picture forms in my head with rim's and tires and so on... then my wallet takes the hit. And then i drool over my boxes as they arrive. and when my free time arrives(when I'll have a few days in a row nothing else except work) I start in and my living room becomes a PIT :) Loosing parts & tools here and there. freaking out till i find them cause i just had them in my hands!. Once they together I play a little then back for some mods and back N fourth!
Selling em? Well was trying to till funds came up for my next project (Thank u Lord)
Still would sell my Cr-01 just cause I'd like to put in some new stuff in my hilux :)

I love to be working on something. Scale R/C is one of a handful of hobbies that end up on my workbench. Everything that i build is for me, i still have all the pieces of a teamassociated rc10t that i bought 15 years ago. So i'm not selling too much. I actually take quite a bit of pride in the parts boxes that filled up over the years. All of the RC that i have is for bashing. My newest is the CR01 and that thing is friggin awesome and goes anywhere. I'm now addicted to it...happily

Well, like Wyoming said, there seems to be this underlying subconscious need to be building or creating. Previously, i was dabbling in electronic music production, but in my younger days i'd spent much time building model kits and have always found Tamiya's kits to be top grade. I've only been building again since the end of 07 and this time it's RC. I don't get a lot of time to run them, with work and family commitments, but... maybe tomorrow.

Oh, i'm a hoarder so pretty much every thing i buy and/or build gets kept, much to my partners dismay ;)

I haven't put much work up on here yet, but have a couple of projects that are nearing completion that i'll have to show.
