I HATE WET SANDING!
Got this body and started sanding it down. Hate wet sanding. Got plans to make this into a 1.9 scale tacoma. The body isn't exact, but its really close.
Did I mention I hate wet sanding?

So I'm going to dig this one up from the pit of old posts with an update:
Worked on the chassis and what not. Got the TLT axles all hooked up. Got links that work. Trimed down the drive shafts. Removed the front servo mount and put the servo on the axle. Worked out the mounting of the body, but I haven't mounted it yet. Going to have it hing on the front and a single screw mount on the rear. Puttied up the holes in the body. Decided to not sand the whole thing down to the white. Just going to rough it all up and then put down a layer or two of primer. Switched out the motor for this one cause its shorter and doesn't hit the links.
I need to round out the wheel wells a little and I'm waiting for the shocks to show up this next week.

I will be watching this one, thats an interesting chassis, I really like it. Is it your own design or something you picked up on ebay ? (I really like that chassis ) :)
And I understand about the sanding, wet or dry. :)

Hey McFig,
I would love to direct you to a great producy that I usad on my F350 it had 14 coats of paint on it whaen I got it and this stuff worked great.
Its called (Peal away 6) from home depot it got all the paint off in two segments.I found out that you put it on in a thick layer for about 2 hours and take a old credit card or one that you dont want no more and scrap away the paint in to a bag and use that to clean off the paint off the card.
Once you got it all cleand off with the card take a old toth brush and rubbing alcahol and scrub the rest off. After that wash it off with some dish soap and let dry and your ready to paint.
Hope this helps.

Nice! There aren't many builds out there with Tacoma bodies. Is that a CR-01 transmission?

Yeah, its a CR-01 tranny. I really like the way it performs.

Yes it is a CR-01 tranny.
@fig You are right the front is too high, but the whole thing needs to drop a bit. That will help the driveline angles as well.

Sorry. I got it off DBB888 over on scale4x4rc.org. He said it was a Diaz chassis, but once I got it in my hands I could see it wasn't. But it is a great chassis and I only paid $35 bucks for it.

Thank you, no problem :), looks like you got a really good deal. I missed out on that era I guess, of Diaz. I keep hearing that name.
Have you decided on a paint scheme yet ? Not sure if its the different truck body or the whole package, but I like this build. :)

Lets pull this out of the post pit and update it.
Cut out the back to add some tail lights.

Basicly finished. Got the RC4WD Out Cry ESC in there. Need to add a front tube bumper, but then that should be it.

Nice pictures Tyler, hopefully Toyota won't recall your rig  Seriously though nice work, I'm also curious about color if any besides primer look you plan to use.

Thanks.
Not sure about color. Its easy to do touch ups when its just primer, but I think it would look better with color. On top of that, not sure what color or style I would paint it. Any suggestions from the master of scale?

tough call Tyler, you're right about primer being easy to touch up, also true of any flat color. I personally like the Tacomas best in Bright red or that darker metallic Green they have. You Could also do a redneck style camo job they are very easy to keep looking good :D

Very nice! I have the same body though hacked up pretty good. Had it mounted on an XC chassis and found the 1.9's wouldn't fit in the wheel wells at all, so it was hack time. This was before the era of 1.5's though, wishing I could put it back to where it was. Glad to see one of these being put to good use.
On a side note, I have no idea what kind of ABS that is, but it's only body I've ever dremeled that smelled like pine trees. :)

I'm running 1.9's on this one. Just had to make the wells bigger.
