Well it was pretty good, cept after a little while the servo suddenly went left and kept going left. I stopped it, brought it in reset the servo top thinking maybe it had slipped on the teeth but no, seems this servo randomly wants to turn left and keep turning left.
Just went to run it again all fixed n straight, got 2 meters and wam.. left again :\
Wrong servo ? Interferance somewhere ? I know its happened to me before but cant recall what it was.
Hitec ( www.hitecrcd.com ) HS-645MG Ultra Tourque Servo
Sanywa DASH Saber Controller and reciever.
Any tips be appreciated.. 2 weeks waiting for parts, building it.. now cant use it for longer than 10 mins, and suns running out :) aint alot of fun :\

Turns out the problem with the servo was the whole 'Servo saver' assembly' just slipping on the teeth, Cut n modified one that came with the remote kit and now, apart from staying turned hard in either direction when stick has been centred (Easy fix with a quick tap to opposite direction) Servo actually works alot better now in sticky moments and not one slip!
Yay!

Tamiya does not include a servo saver that fits the Hi Tech spline in the kit. If you want more steering and are running a metal gear servo, delete the servo saver, and run a longer servo arm.:)

This currently has a 55 turn Novak in it now with a Novak speed controller.
Ive just bought a HPI'X-65' Crawler motor (65 turns) for $34 US.
Will this (and for that matter, any crawler) motor work ok with the novak speed controller ? Or should i look into purchasing something different ? Do certain motors go better with certain speed controllers ?
I have only used the basic ESC's with small graupner motors on R/C boats and am unfamiliar with these Bigger, more technical ESC and Motors.
Cheers for any tips.

Cheers fella's.. Winch next and then she's done (Oh and new tyres n rims, waiting for 12mm hex nut)
Down here its quite common to see them like that, and the truth of the whole matter is, I couldnt be bothered masking and painting the rear windows (I painted all the black window rubbers by hand before i realised what the black stickers are for!) and couldnt be bothered doing 2 more so tore of the masking tape on each of them and just painted away :) Plus who really wants to see all those electrical wires!.. But really, I Just wanted to run it!
I see alot down here with the back half either fibreglass canopy's or totally cut off and just have Canvas backs.. Dad had a work truck pretty similair to mine back in the 80's before they swapped to Nissans in the 90's

Needed to grab the reciever and the Rs sport motor out of the Pajero chassis.. to use for the buggy champ.. Anyhoot needed to rest the top somewhere and the CR 01 chassis happened to be sitting there with no Toyota top on it, One thing lead to another.. 4 holes later...

The Gaurds will need trimming a little on both the front and back, I havent done it yet as these were just free standing shots as the reciever isnt setup :) Im awaiting to buy myself another 2 channel kit for the buggy champ so I can put my JR 3 channel back into the CR01 as planned for the winch. (JR currently resides in the buggy champ with the 3rd chan going to waste)
The handy thing with the Pajero is it has a fairly good front bumper to place the winch onto, and its a hard body! (Dark windows are nice to hide those electrics too)
Ages ago i bought this cheap and nasty .. but 1/10th scale Landrover R/C car, worth like 20us.. one of those 4 AA jobs..And the luxury model, Anyway it was given away ages ago, after doing this Pajero I wish I'd kept the darn thing now.. Another 4 holes later and who knows what it might of turned out like :p

....And have you ever tried or seen the Toyota on the Pajero chassis ? (I forget its chassis number) That doesnt look to bad either. Fotopic seems to of died, ut I'll take a snap of the Toyota on the Pajero chassis for ya's and get them up. Might even experiment with the Proline Recon Body on it to :)

Yep, it's been done. Mr Wyoming has tried pretty well every combination with the xc/cc chassis and done a fine job each time.

Halp! Not serious but visually annoying :p Getting a twist in my CR 01 chassis when throttle is applied and the body and chassis ends up leaning to the left a little, definatly notice the back left corner drooping alot .
The very first part we all have to build for the CR 01 , The link mounts , are they known to wear quickly ? as there seems to be alot of free play on them and its about the only thing i can narrow it down too.
Arcocustom
09-12-2009, 09:32 AM
Well, it sounds like "torque twist" , which is common in 4-link vehicles. Totally normal, they all do it. It can be controlled somewhat, by installing the optional heavier gauge stabilizer bars. Installing heavier gauge "sway bars" can limit the articulation though.
http://www.tamiyausa.com/product/item.php?product-id=54030
Boweavel
09-12-2009, 09:27 PM
I did think it was torque twist, but being 4wd I assumed it would'nt have any twist.
Is there also a 'breaking in' period so to speak for the springs and arms and what not, to all settle in ? So what Im seeing is basicly how it should be ?, Waat I saw before was because everything was stiff n hard still ?
On another note, Whats a good way to store your crawlers ? Should I mount is so something is under its centre ? hanging the wheels in the air? or are they ok to just sit on its wheels like a ral car does ? Was even thinking of hanging my cars from their front bumpers, from the centrebeam in my roof :) (me running out of room ?? naaaaaa well, maybe)
Arcocustom
09-12-2009, 09:52 PM
Totally normal. It is a comprimise between articulation and swaybar siffness. You want it to flex for crawling, but not so flexible it rolls over and to be somewhat stiff, but flexible enough to keep all 4 wheels grounded. :)
If the trucks sit for long periods of time, the tires will get flat spots. You can put them on a stand or you can simply remove the wheels and stack them. As for storage.....

in response to Arco's picture... drool....
You need some 1/10 scale jackstands to put under the axles to keep the tires off the ground.
I dont use them much but I have some "toy" jacks from an old bigfoot playset that hold most smaller rigs off the ground (wont work on a clod) but will on a TA01 and XC01) Do an ebay search for "bigfoot sst" and it was that type of playset that it came with.

WOW thats some collection there Arco :omg: Love the one in the centre :)
I have plenty of foam chunks from various items that I had saved for my Z scale layout, will just cut something up to rest the axles on.. Cheers for the tip.
Heres some Vid's from tonight :) The new camera sometimes had a bit of trouble focusing but didnt turn out to bad.
