The truck seems a little over-sprung with the coil-overs. You will get better articulation without the extra springs IMHO.:) Truck sure is pretty.
I agreee with Arco, does'nt look like you have too much flex with that suspension setup. Nice looking Toyota though!:thumb:

YA Arco is right just one set of springs and you will get more travel

I agree with everybody else why two sets of springs? It looks good though my CR-01 looked similar to that with all the alum, but now its a full fledged crawler

I just followed the Instructions that came in the book lads! :) Is my first rock crawler.
You guys mean drop the white springs or the blue ones that surround the dampers ?
Ive just been for my 2nd crawl, On that setup in the video I had Medium springs on the front and SOft on the rear, Just changed them to Hard on the front and Medium on the rear, Seems to clear the rocks a little better.
Whats a good Spring setup for this kit ? Ive seen some video's where they take them off all together
Heres another 2 video's from yesterday that I uploaded overnight :) Cheers all

Delete the blue ones on the dampners.:) I just run the stock set-up for springs. I would try removing the springs on the dampners and see how it performs before changing anything else.
I watched the videos and noticed the left front in the air. When you remove the extra spring from the dampners, that wheel will likely be planted on the rocks, maintaining traction with all 4 wheels.:thumb:

The instructions do not show springs on the dampers(see attachment), So I am not sure what book you are looking at? What you have is too much of a pogo-stick. The suspension needs to compress.
You can always check my CR-01 Build thread

It takes you step by step through it.

Yes sorry should of mentioned i did buy some upgraded Dampers that came with the springs around them :) They are a bit 'strong' and dont let the vehicle flex much. WIll try you advice :)
I have the aluminuim damper set from tamiya.. Might build em now and see if they are better.
Cheers

Blue spirngs removed.. The dampers were delivered prebuilt so i just assumed they had oil in them, It appears they didnt. So put the 3 hole caps in them, filled them with oil and now move alot better.
I was going to keep the blue springs simply to prevent rock damage as they were so loose i assumed they really didnt do much at all, but after closer look I see that they do stop about 1cm of extra travel.
Moving alot better now :) Cheers all

Just thought I'd throw in a full size image link :) I can see myself fast getting addicted to these things :)
:mod:Changed your full size link into a URL link, cause its too big for viewing. But if people want to see it they can click on the link.

I can see the difference..... that rockpile is childs play now.;) As for the springs, you want stiffer rears, to help "push" the front end down and keep it planted.:thumb: Looks like you got the steering sorted out as well, good job.:)

I Have hard springs in rear and medium in front (had soft in front but.. it fell off a table 2 days ago and the only thing i caught before it hit the ground was my little finger through the front right spring :) straightening it out..., lost a set of Softs but saved a 4wd!
Medium or hard sway bar, I dont recall.... These new tyres surely do help too :)

Both vids are a combination of little vids.
It turns out the 'Clackline Crawl' was only crawling i managed to stop and do that day, and it seems lucky I did because not 1, not 2.. but 3 draveshaft pins (1 out on the floor and 2 about to fall out) were found as i lifted it out of the truck to take it home that night. :o
Suprised me, didnt think they would slip out that easily. back in now with some locktight on them...
Enjoy!

Why arent those driveshaft pins locked in anyway ?
Some more vids for ya's , Took it to work again.. lunch break at 4:30pm! Allways wanted to Crawl here but its 200km from home! :p Mount Stirling.. throw this into google earth for a location.

Thats pretty much ontop of the old school/church.. could spend months there and not cover the whole site

If you walked just over the right hand edge of the hill, to the right of the water tanks, you would of found me on the other side :) This is the western side of one of 4 out crops like this withen a km of each other (behind that big one basicly!) Im on the southern side.
Enjoy the crawl!

Theres another location near there, that is a little river at this time of year, theres a rapid section that has 1 to 2 ft only boulders side by side and covering about 50m squared! but absolutly nowhere to park the truck to give it a run :(
One fun little truck :) certainly a daily driver!

When i do finally get myself over to Perth, i'll have to get some directions to all these great crawl spots. They have good clothes shops and cafes close by for the missus, right? ;):D

When you get here its pretty easy to find a spot, Just look east at the one big hill that runs North and South and head for it :p plenty of places, hope to get to some this weekend too :)
...and that last set of vids is 200km from the city, not much phone range so if you want to go there, drop her off in Fremantle :) Can cafe and shop all day long and not call you to bother you :D
