I planned on getting a set of diff covers from JunFac. Befor I spent $40.00 on a pair of diff covers I wanted to make a set of skid plates for my Lift. I started with some stainless steel rod and some .045 thick stainless sheet. I made the skid plate first from the sheet, then made the truss bar from the rod. I TIG'ed them together then through them on on the truck. I may paint them black. I'm not sure yet! They should be more than sturdy enough to hold up to what I will put them through.

That's a very interesting skid plate. Looks very well built too.:)
You aren't too worried about it being too low to the ground are you?

The first one I made was about 1/8 inch below the silver diff cover, and it in my opinion was way to low. This set places the skids truss bar within 1/64 of an inch from the silver diff cover. I can not get the skid up any higher and still be able to remove the cover to access the diff lock set screw. It is going to hit when climing over stuff. That is a given! But I would rather hit the skid than hit the axle. With 1.9's these axles have very little ground clearance anyway! IMHO. It will do what I need it to do I think! Once I get the JunFac diff covers I may make another set and move them up more. For now these will keep my axles from getting beat!:D

Hmm! That is another interesting skid plate solution. Looks well built too.
It's always nice to see what people do for custom made skid plates. :D

They do work very good, and i stop getting caught on the
rocks with the diff covers, and i did not lose any ground clearance with it on!
so i'm happy with it.
oh and it's made from a steel cover of a pc hard drive :thumb:
