Hi all. Want to show my newly built
Ford. First was all original but I never liked
wheelbase being longer than body.So this is what I
made of it.

Was looking at skid plates some people have
but the one for sale not protecting much.
So I made one. Now I can go without thinking of
touching rocks with front axle.
Gonna make one for rear but differen style.

kosta

Yes e-bay and others got som skid plates
but the thing is mine goes all the way under
front axle ending just before driveshaft.
So it protecting when I slide over rocks.

nice looking plate, I used a Jun Fac when i had my CR-01 and it looked good but was actually hanging up on rocks all the time, yours should work much better by the looks of it.

Desided to redo my flat bed. I made back to be able to
open and made locks for it. Looks like it got more of a
scale look now. Soft top for it is next thing as well
as fender flares for the front.

Very nice work, I had an unbuilt CR01. I was wondering if the wheelbase may be shortened just using different holes for attachment.

yes but you would have to get shorter linkage

No. You need to shorten the links.

It depends on how short you want the links. Simply cutting the plastic rod ends (5mm off each end) can = up to a 10mm shorter link. If you need more you will have to dremel yourself a chunk of the aluminium link itself. Shortening the WB makes the truck less stable though. :)

Hey all.
I took my truck out today to ride on some
gravel behind my back yard. Took few pictures.
http://content.foto.mail.ru/mail/k2-76/CR01/i-17.jpg

You can see front skid plate protecting whole axle.

And here you can see my black rock rings but instead of just
spending money on e-bay and get them scratched all over again
I sanded the original ones and painted them black. So now it is
black on black and when I touch stones or what ever you
dont see it.:D
Check this out. That is after 2 hours on rocks.

Where did you get the skid plate for the front axel?

Northwest 4x4
12-24-2009, 01:46 PM
he custom made it

kosta

so for the front plate there is a template (in mm) but I have made front and back
parts longer so it would go ok over rocks and as I have found out lately works just fine
on snow too.
http://content.foto.mail.ru/mail/k2-76/CR01/i-32.jpg

And finaly I had time to make rear skid plate. It has a bit different design.
